AVK|SEG (UK) Ltd digital static UPS systems & MTU powered generators are used extensively within the financial sector for support of critical dealing room and communications loads, providing clean, uninterruptible power 24 hours a day.
When Barclays Capital engaged in Phase 2 of their main data centre site their intention of working with AVK was clear from the beginning. Before selecting their main contractor they insisted they enter into a formal agreement with AVK to provide the generator package. AVK provided Barclays with a repeat mirror image of the original project (Phase 1) based upon 4 off 2000kVA prime rated generating sets each installed within 40ft ISO containers with attenuation to 69dBA @ 1 metre, complete with roof-mounted horizontal radiators and exhaust silencers. Free standing Kerys control and synchronising panels were fitted, with testing of the switchgear organised at works. All four generators were lifted one by one from the roadside, over the fencing and strategically placed onto the base units.
Why? Because AVK|SEG (UK) Ltd, having achieved successful steady growth since 1989 has a structure which enables us to react quickly to customer requirements. We provide expertise in the design, planning and implementation of power systems projects in all major market sectors ranging from Retail, Banking & Finance and Energy through to Industrial and Petrochemical.
AVK have just added a further 1000kVA generator to an existing installation of 2 x 1000kVA generators for a major European bank. The existing generators switchgear and Mimic were located in the basement, with the new 1000kVA generator located in the ground floor of a multi-storey car park.
A new bulk tank was also supplied mounted in the basement of the car park just under the generator. The exhaust system included a precipitator filter mounted on the roof of the container with a flue up through the car park floors to the Roof Garden. The precipitator filter is designed to reduce the levels of carbon monoxides, hydrocarbons, and particulate matter present within the exhaust output of a diesel engine by use of an oxidation process. Whilst the MTU engine has one of the cleanest outputs meeting the TA Luff regulations, AVK further reduced the level of pollution by introducing the precipitator filter as requested by the District Council.
1 x XS1000kVA standby LV diesel generating set G3 installed on Roof Level 16 arranged for automatic start from receipt of remote start signals and serving TP5 & TP6.
The generator is housed within an acoustic enclosure designed to reduce noise levels to 65dBA @ 1m free-field. The generator is fed from an adjacent 1200 litre daily service tank installed within a 4-hour fire rated enclosure. Fuel to the daily service tank is supplied from an existing 20,000 Litre bulk fuel tank on the Mezzanine Floor via a new AVK fully-automatic duplex fuel transfer pump system.
AVK have just completed a fast track installation of 4 x X2800C 11kVA generators of standby power generation at Watermark Place, Nomura Banks HQ.
The contract was awarded to AVK to install 4 off 2800kVA MTU medium voltage diesel generators. As part of the installation, AVK also installed the complete bulk fuel system which consisted of a 150,000L bulk fuel store split between four balanced tanks, the complete flue system to the roof including noise and emission controls, and the room acoustic treatment including acoustic doors, plenums, wall and ceiling lining and sound attenuators.
AVK have just installed one of the largest generator installations in London. In total 4 x 2800kVA containerised generators have been installed onto the roof of the newly-built office development on the banks of the Thames.
All four generators operate as a single power station synchronising together and supplying power to the building in less than 10 seconds from a start signal. A new bulk tank and fuel transfer system were supplied as part of the package, as was a complex PLC system to control the power to the building.
The sound attenuated containers represent the largest systems installed in London.
