AVK have just installed one of the largest generator installations in London. In total, 4 x 2800kVA generators have been installed onto the roof of the newly-built office development on the banks of the Thames.

All four generators operate as a single power station synchronising together and supplying power to the building in less than 10 seconds from a start signal.

A new bulk tank and fuel transfer system was supplied as part of the package, as was a complex PLC system to control the power to the building.

The tough noise restrictions meant that each generator had to be limited to 60dBA at 1m. This resulted in probably the largest bespoke containers ever supplied for a project of this nature, measuring over 20m in length , 4m high and weighing in at close to 30T a piece!

AVK conducted an offsite acoustic test on a purpose-built floating slab to mimic the site conditions. After a successful test, each set was then craned to the roof of the building where AVK’s installation team set about making final connections in preparation for commissioning the equipment.
