The existing uninterruptible power systems and temporary standby generators were powered down to make way for the new electrical infrastructure, ultimately providing an increased system capacity of uninterruptible power systems and standby electrical generation.
In total, some 100 people were involved in the operation, carrying out a range of activities, including changing the old power transformer, installing new electrical cabling, commissioning the new electrical infrastructure, completing electrical testing of the computer suites, removing the temporary generators, and carrying out thermal imaging of the existing and new equipment.
This new investment will increase the William Morris Data Centre power resilience for the remainder of the site's life and provide significant improvement to the operational management of the site.
Many thanks go to those who worked through the weekend towards this successful implementation, which included people from each of the Service Delivery Teams across several locations, including Mitcham, Basingstoke, Staines and Solihull, plus our external technical partners, who are noted below.
