The Metropolitan Police selected AVK|SEG (UK) LTD power systems to provide a Rooftop Mounted Package Diesel Generator System to support their additional emergency requirements.
AVK|SEG (UK) LTD undertook to provide a complete turnkey contract including all steelworks, supports, mechanical and electrical installation together with the provision of Main Power Distribution Switchgear with Remote Automatic Changeover Panels sited on each floor. The remote panels were equipped with transducers and remote contacts designed to interface with the Yards existing building management system.
The contract programme was based on a manufacturing period of 12 weeks. AVK|SEG (UK) LTD had the responsibility of lifting and positioning the generator and acoustic housing onto the roof at New Scotland Yard. This operation was carried out early on a Sunday morning using a 200 tonne mobile crane, requiring Victoria Street to be closed for the lift.
